ABOUT JOON.
Joon Park grew up in Fort Lee, NJ. In this episode, he recalls the homophobia he felt growing up in a very Korean neighborhood. In high school, he moved away from Fort Lee to attend a county district high school. While there, he tried to shed is Korean identity to present himself as being more white, in which he associated with queerness. In college, he went onto embrace his Korean identity and now identifies himself as a queer person of color. “I say queer person of color all the time just because I think that my queerness and POC identity are so inextricably linked.”
